The Holiness Project
Holiness Project
It had been my contention that the doctrine of Holiness has been lost within the body of Christ. Rather than standing as a bulwark between the rising tide of worldliness, the church has become
like the world. It has assimilated it by endorsing its music, its culture, and philosophy. Through The Holiness Project, I hope to recapture this long-needed principle. I wrote this piece several
years ago, but never felt the timing was right to go big. Now I do.
I invite you to join me in a movement larger than one person, larger than one church or denomination. It’s a call to return to the very character and nature of God. The instructions are simple. First, pray. Pray for personal cleansing. Secondly, pray for ecclesiastical and national cleansing. “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” II Chron. 7:14
Third, join me in producing an anthem which will captivate the “church’s” attention, and perhaps spark a revival of holiness.
Thank you for joining me in what I believe will become a driving force in turning the church back to God. We know from Isaiah that the one trait extolled the most in heaven is God's holiness. We, as followers of Christ, are commanded to be holy. Holiness is not a choice. It's God's will. That message is needed for today more than ever. To participate in the Holiness Project, download the attached files. Print the file and upload the soundtrack to a cell phone or anything you can use to play it. Be sure you are in a quiet place where you can sing out. With one side of your headphones or earbuds in place, leave one ear out to hear yourself. Play the soundtrack. You should only record your voice, not the soundtrack. Give yourself time to warm up, sing it through several times until you are comfortable. Don't worry if you make a mistake, I will edit what you send me. Set your phone to video. I may or may not be able to create a virtual choir, but that is my goal, so smile.
When you are satisfied, send the videos to my email: authorbryanpowell@gmail.com.
As a benefit for your participation, I will send you a copy of the final production along with the octavo formatted as a pdf file and the orchestration soundtrack for your church’s use.
Please note that the deadline for receiving submissions is March 10th.
To get started, download this pdf file God Is Holy score, and the mp3 piano/synth soundtrack.
You can also go to my website and download the files. Go to my pages and select the Sacred Music page.
Thank you in advance for joining me in The Holiness Project.
God Is Holy
Performance Notes
This work is conceived as a sacred symphonic anthem, intended to convey the grandeur of God’s holiness through restraint and musical pacing. The impact of this piece will be felt not through constant volume, but through dynamic expression and delayed climactic release. Singers are encouraged to sing long phrases. adhere to clean cutoffs, and reverent pacing, allowing silence and resonance to carry theological weight. The work unfolds from mystery to proclamation, from the heavenly hosts extoling God in all His power and majesty to an invitation to participate in celebrating Christ’s triumph. It finally settles into a reverential moment of unashamed worship, an Alleluia of radiant stillness
.
